“PZ Cussons , the Stockport-based multi-national took the accolade for listed businesses with revenues of over £50m at the 2008 M.E.N. Business of the Year Awards.
After receiving the award in the main listed companies category, Chief Executive Alex Kanellis said:
"PZ Cussons is proud to be acknowledged as a growing international consumer goods company based here in the North West. Our £26m investment in a new Innovation Centre in Manchester will provide capacity to expand our successful UK business and act as a flagship site for Personal Wash development across the group.
The award is a fantastic achievement that recognises the efforts that our staff both international and here in the UK have made in recent years as we have invested to provide a platform for growth in the future."
Nearly 300 people attended last night's gala awards ceremony at Manchester's Midland Hotel. The awards segment was hosted by BBC TV presenter Andrew Marr while comedian and writer Bob Mills was host for the evening.
A total of six accolades were handed out at the 15th annual awards, which were sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland, accountancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers and solicitors Pinsent Masons.
The judging panel said the awards had attracted one of the strongest fields in the event's history, with all the finalists showing impressive leadership and innovation in their chosen sectors. They are also investing heavily in their north west operations and product development, while some are looking to expand further overseas.”
