PZ Cussons Nigeria has opened its rebuilt Research and Development (R&D) Innovation Centre, strengthening innovation capabilities and supporting its ambition to build locally-loved brands across Home and Personal Care.
The new facility, officially opened on 29 June 2026 by PZ Cussons Nigeria CEO and Managing Director (Africa) Oghale Elueni, provides a laboratory and modern hub for developing safe, effective and high-performing products for consumers in Nigeria and across the wider region.
Equipped with advanced technology and collaborative workspaces, the centre has been designed to help teams turn local consumer insight into market-leading solutions more quickly. It will support faster innovation cycles, enhanced quality and safety standards, and greater collaboration between scientists, technical experts and commercial teams.
The investment reflects PZ Cussons’ focus on building stronger portfolios of locally-loved brands in its lead markets, including Nigeria. It also supports the Group’s broader approach to category expansion, with opportunities across Personal, Home and Baby Care and household name brands in Africa such as Premier Cool and Venus.
For PZ Cussons Nigeria, the rebuilt laboratory represents more than a refresh of existing facilities. It provides a stronger platform for sustainable growth, helping the business serve consumers with products that meet their everyday needs while supporting the company’s commitment to innovation, quality and long-term value creation.
Oghale Elueni, Chief Executive Officer of PZ Cussons Nigeria PLC and Managing Director of Africa Business Unit, said:
“Our new R&D Centre is a strategic investment in Africa’s future and a clear demonstration of our commitment to innovation-led growth. By innovating in Africa, we are creating products that better meet local needs while strengthening our brands and long-term competitiveness. Investing in the centre reflects our conviction that R&D is at the foundation of growth, enabling us to innovate faster and deliver enduring value for consumers and our shareholders alike.”
Sharon Goodall, Global R&D and Sustainability Director and Ifeanyi Abadom, Africa Supply Chain Director, said:
“Our new R&D Innovation Centre is inspired by science and driven by innovation. This investment gives our teams the environment and capabilities to create the next generation of locally-loved brands for our consumers, that are proudly developed in Africa – for Africa. It has been immensely rewarding to help guide this project from concept to completion on behalf of our Africa Business Unit and Marketing, R&D and Supply Chain teams, and to see it become a space where science, creativity and collaboration come together.”
